Projects
Slit iris An electrowetting based scannable and tunable slit

Project description
This project is collaboration with the Laboratory for Microactuators in which we fabricate and evaluate an optofluidic scannable slit for a hyperspectral system .
The design contains no moving mechanical parts and functions by manipulation of liquid interfaces between two aqueous ink droplets in an ambient of silicone oil by means of of electrowetting-on-dielectric (EWOD). The developed device can form a 100 µm wide slit that is scannable over a transparent aperture of size 1500 µm x 1500 µm in 15 discrete steps. Switching time between adjacent slit positions is estimated to be less than 120 ms.
