BrainCon - Development of a multifunctional platform for long-term recording and stimulation of the brain - Braincon
Project description
The project aims at developing a neurotechnological platform for long-term measuring and stimulating brain activity. The platform character of this system opens up a wide variety of applications in therapy, rehabilitation and assistive technology.
The platform consists of 3 components:
(1) A foil electrode on the brain surface measures electrical activity that
(2) An intelligent implant communicates wireless through the skin to
(3) A software that processes the data for application in real-time.
The system can also work the other way around: In this case, driven by the software the implant is generating stimulation impulses that the electrode brings to the brain surface.
Start/End of project
01.09.2011 until 31.08.2014
