Projects
TOFU – Tubular Optofluidics

Project description
The objective of TOFU (Tubular Optofluidics) is the realization of a cylindrically-symmetric multicomponent optofluidic system in a tube and thus transform optofluidics into the third dimension. The concept is based on a flexible, electrically active foil fabricated in wafer-level by microfabrication techniques (picture to the left), with precisely defined fluidic wetting properties that is rolled up and inserted into a rigid tube. By filling the system with various optical liquids in different axial positions, optical elements can be realized, and these can be tuned using pressure or electrowetting-ondielectrics (EWOD) actuation.
