Projects
Adaptive optical imaging system

Project description
Zoom microscopes for in-vivo medical imaging with diffraction-limited performance are difficult to implement, particularly due to the challenges in precision fabrication, integration, and more importantly actuation of optical components within limited system footprint. Active liquid lenses with tunable focal lengths can be an alternative to translating lenses for optical zooming and focusing; however the optical quality of these components are not on par with their conventional counterparts. In this project we are aiming at the development of novel tunable components with diffraction-limited performance over the tuning range and the integration of these components into a high-performance miniaturized zoom microscope combining large field-of-view and high resolution imaging capabilities.
