Projects
Tunable micro-optics using structured elastomers

Project description
In this project we developed solid body lenses consisting of elastomeric materials. Archetype of these lenses is the eye of mammals which is actuated by ciliary muscles at the equatorial periphery of the lens. We seek here to mimic the behavior of the mammals’ eye by various actuation concepts. The main research focussed on the optical properties of these novel lenses and how these properties can be influenced as desired. This project was completed in 2011.
Start/End of project
