Vita
Elena Kipf studied bioengineering at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and graduated with a diploma degree in engineering in 2009. Her diploma thesis entitled "Development of an SMB process for the separation of racemates" was carried out at the ETH Zurich in Prof. Panke's bioprocess laboratory. This research stay was supported by a scholarship from the Ernest-Solvay-Foundation. In 2010, she started her PhD at the Laboratory for MEMS Applications (Prof. Zengerle) on the topic Microbial Fuel Cells.
In 2015, she joined the nucleic acid analysis group at the Laboratory for MEMS Applications and worked on the development of personalized assays for cancer diagnostics. She was also involved in the further development and establishment of the new technology: Mediator Probe PCR. Since 2018 she is working for Hahn-Schickard with a focus on digital PCR, and is involved in the development of the digital Mediator Probe PCR, in particular for the detection of circulating tumor DNA in colorectal cancer (Liquid Biopsy).
