Dipl. Math. Theresa Strauch
External PhD candidate
Curriculum Vitae
Theresa Strauch was born in 1987 at Leipzig.
She
began her studies of mathematics in 2006 at Freiburg, studied at Paris
for one year from 2008 to 2009 and finished her diploma in Dec. 2012.
The topic of her Diploma thesis was "Well-Balanced Finite-Volume-Schemes
for nearly hydrostatic flows in the atmosphere".
During her studies
she worked at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems (ISE)
as scientific student assistant, beginning to compute image processing
algorithms for application in photovoltaics, did an internship in 2010
at the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences (MIS) at
Leipzig, computing low-rank-reduction and tensor operations to solve
elliptic and parabolic partial differential equations (PDE) and worked
at the university as tutor.
In March 2013 she returned to ISE,
working as scientific assistant first and focussing more on image
processing algorithm to track objects in images with applications in
photovoltaics.
Since December 2013 she has been working on her PHD
thesis with the topic "Tomographic analysis of grain growth and
dislocation development in multi-crystalline silicon".
Theresa's
research interests spread from numerical solutions of physical problems
(especially PDE) to solid matter physics - especially crystallography -
and its application in photovoltaics.
In her free time she likes to play the violin, is interested in languages and literature and likes to go hiking or biking.
